AAA: Minimal changes in gas prices

The national average price of gas per gallon is up one cent from last week, while in New York State the average price has remained the same.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Drivers in the area will see minimal changes in the price of gas from last week. AAA reports that in WNY there has been both decreases and increases of one to two cents.

In Buffalo, drivers are seeing on average a one cent decrease in the price of gas per gallon down to $3.44 as compared to last week. However, in Batavia drivers on average are seeing a two cent increase to $3.44 a gallon, according to AAA.

In Rochester, prices remain at $3.49 with no change from last week.

On average, New York State drivers are still seeing gas prices at $3.49 per gallon, with no change from last week, according to AAA.

Meanwhile at a national level, the price of gas per gallon is being reported at $3.31, one cent up from last week.

AAA says that in the winter, the price of gas typically goes down as demand decreases and the stock of gas increases.

However, the increasing price of crude oil has kept gas prices elevated. Currently, AAA reports crude oil prices are back in the mid $80 per barrel range.

AAA says drivers can conserve fuel by mapping their routes, avoiding peak traffic times, using cruise control when possible and combining errands into one trip.
