Looking to spruce up your yard? Erie County is accepting orders for trees, shrubs and flowers

Erie County is offering 38 different species of trees and shrubs.

ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — Looking to spruce up your yard? The Erie County Soil and Water Conservation District is now accepting order forms for the 2020 Conservation Tree and Shrub Seedling Sale.

Erie County is offering 38 different species of trees and shrubs. They are also offering wildflower seed mixes and seedling packs, which have combinations of trees and shrubs that attract, feed and shelter birds, butterflies and other wildlife.

Seedlings are an inexpensive alternative for replacing trees that have been damaged or lost, but they also benefit the ecosystem and homeowners. Planting seedlings reduces heating and cooling expenses, protects water quality, reduces air pollution and stabilizes erodible land.

Orders are due by March 13 and will be available to pickup on April 25 at the Hamburg Fairgrounds.

Order forms may be obtained in a variety of ways. You can either stop by the district office at 50 Commerce Way in East Aurora, located behind the Post Office. You can also call the district at (716) 652-8480 ext. 5. Or you can print the order form from the district's website here.

The district also offers a variety of things to help promote the success of your plantings including marking flags, fertilizer tablets and tree shelters. Bluebird nest boxes can also be ordered through the program.
