May 5 marks "I Love My Park Day"

New York's parks, historic sites and public lands will be getting spruced up by scores of volunteers at parks around the state Saturday.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York's parks, historic sites and public lands will be getting spruced up by scores of volunteers at events planned across the state this weekend.

The first Saturday in May is designated as "I Love My Park Day."

For the seventh year, projects are being organized by Parks and Trails New York. More than 125 sites are hosting events including planting trees and flowers, removing trash, restoring wildlife habitat and improving trails.
