It's no April Fool's joke - the 2018 trout fishing season begins Sunday.
The State Department of Environmental Conservation announced Thursday the first day of April would mark the beginning of the season.
According to the DEC, the State has a growing fishing industry with an estimated $1.8 billion in economic activity every year.
They say fishing conditions improve as the weather gets warmer, but the best early season fishing can be found on Long Island, the Lower Hudson Valley, and right here in Western New York.
