Nick Fabrizio, Maple Grove SR RB/LB in 13 games rushed for 1363 yards and 21 touchdowns while recording 73 tackles for the Red Dragons.

Zak Trim, Maple Grove SR LB, recorded 182 tackles to lead the Red Dragons’ defense this season.

Matt Myers, West Seneca West SR QB in 13 games completed 153 of 264 passes for 2407 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 1040 yards and 23 touchdowns combined. Matt had 3447 yards and 47 touchdowns offensively.

Amazing Stat: For the first time in decades, only Lancaster’s Andrew Hersey rushed for over 1000 yards from a Class AA team. The Legends didn’t face a team from WNY that had a 1000 yard rusher.

Rich Robbins, Canisius head coach, in 7 years has recorded a 62-18 record including 14-3 in playoffs, 2 state titles, and 5 Msgr. Martin championships.

Keshone Beal, Cheektowaga JR QB, passed for 1864 yards, 20 touchdowns, and rushed for 1255 yards and 25 touchdowns for a combined 3119 yards and 45 touchdowns to spark the Warriors to a 10-2 record and a berth in the state semi-finals.

Aaron Waher, Cleveland Hill JR RB/LB rushed for 1670 yards, 23 touchdowns, and recorded 60 tackles to lead the Golden Eagles to a 10-2 record and a berth in the state semi-finals.

Javon Thomas, Cleveland Hill JR RB rushed for 1280 yards and 12 touchdowns in 8 games for the Warriors this season.

Russ Brandon, Canisius SR WR/DB, caught 25 passes for 433 yards and 5 touchdowns while averaging 20.6 yards per catch. This was without 3 touchdowns and 140 yards called back by penalties. The Crusader has committed to Dartmouth College and will be a member of the 2017 All-WNY Academic Football Team.

C.J. Ozolins, St. Mary’s sophomore DE, recorded 77 tackles including 10 for a loss while collecting 7 sacks, and recovering 2 fumbles for the Lancers this season.

Pleasantville won the Class B State title over Chenango Forks 28-14.

Skaneateles won the Class C State title defeating holy Trinity 28-25.

Jayce Johnson, Canisius SQ QB passed for 1716 yards, 18 touchdowns, and rushed for 635 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. Combined, he accounted for 2351 yards and 31 touchdowns offensively.

Jayce Johnson, Canisius SR QB has a scholarship offer from Wagner.

RJ Brandon, Canisius SR WR/DB has committed to Dartmouth.

Kenyetta Huston, Canisius RB, has an offer from Central Connecticut State.

State Championship Update

Section VI has a 23-14 record in state championship games which began in 1993.

Teams from Class D have a 7-2 record in state title games.

Randolph has the best record of 5-0, defeating their opponents by a margin of 104 points.

Teams from Class AA have a 5-2 record for Section VI.

Class A teams have a 2-3 record with Southwestern winning two state championships.

Class B teams are 3-4 in title games. An interesting item is that teams from Section VI appeared in 7 of the first 8 title games but have not participated in the last 14 years.

Jamestown and Randolph have played in the most title games with the Red Raiders 4-1 and Randolph unbeaten at 5-0.
