BUFFALO, N.Y. — WNY Maritime defeated Cheektowaga and Dunkirk to win their first 2 games. Last season they only won 2 games total.

Orchard Park and Lancaster are 2 of the top teams in Class AA. The Quakers average 49 points and the Legends average 42 points.

Canisius lost to two powerful football teams from Ohio but will still contend for the Msgr. Martin large school title.

St. Joe’s totally dominated Bennett in Saturday’s game. The Marauders appear to have one of their strongest teams in years when they face Canisius in week 3. They will have two of the best quarterbacks in the area with Callum Wither at St. Joe’s and Tyler Baker at Canisius.

This could be a long season for the teams in the small school Msgr. Martin league. After 2 weeks, the three teams are 0-5.

West Seneca West rebounded from their loss to Kenmore West to defeat Hamburg. One note is that in week 2, Mike Glinski, SR LB and 2 time All-WNY LB only had 2 tackles.

Five City of Buffalo teams are 4-5 after 2 weeks.

I wouldn’t be surprised if South park and West Seneca East played for the sectional Class A championship at New Era Field in November.

The record for Class B’s 4 teams are 1-9 in two weeks.

The upset of the week was Allegany-Limestone’s win over Fredonia.

Albion in Class B-3 have dominated their 2 opponents.

East Aurora/Holland are 2-0 and will be competing for a berth in the playoffs. Shane MacSwan, T.J. Marsh, Jared Montgomery and Jonathan Staniszewski are leading the Blue Devils.

Williamsville teams are 1-5 after two weeks.

Canisius should be in the Buffalo News large school poll after 4 weeks.
