EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -- Life for the Buffalo Bills these days seems to be a constant series of disappointments, from an ineffectual offense, to a defense struggling under the burden of of covering for that offense, to the series of quarterbacks brought in to fill the space left by the injury to rookie Josh Allen. Matt Barkley gets the next kick at the can at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey Sunday morning.
The depths to which Buffalo's offense has sunk to are well known by now. More interestingly, the man at the controls this week was at one time a reasonably well-regarded prospect. In signing with the Bills, Barkley is joining his seventh organization since being drafted in 2013. He'll need help, and should the line be able to finally create holes for RB LeSean McCoy or WR's Travis Benjamin and Terrelle Pryor can find some room in the secondary, it would help considerably. The defense is often looked to as a strength, but even they need a bounce back after giving up 103 points in their last three games, all loses. At least they'll get LB Tremaine Edmunds back after passing concussion protocol.
The game marks a stretch of the Bills final seven games of the season, five of which are divisional opponents. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM.
