Unique Eats: Peace, Love and Little Donuts

Peace, Love and Little Donuts is a franchise of a Pittsburgh shop, frying up more than 50 types of little donuts.

Amherst, N.Y. — As the saying goes, the ingredients to a good life are peace, love and happiness. But inside a new Amherst shop, happiness is also known as donuts.

Peace, Love and Little Donuts is a franchise of a Pittsburgh business brought to Buffalo by Brad and Mariana Terwilliger.

They are focused on funky freshness with a hippie vibe.

"You know, we have the 60's and 70's music playing and then the funkadelic...the groovy..." Brad explained of the shop's ambience.

They make more than 50 types of little donuts with names straight from the 70s.

There is the "Heath, Wind and Fire" with chocolate sauce and heath bars. There is the "Snick Jagger" which will remind you of a snickers. And the "Shaka Pecan" with maple frosting and pecans.

They have classics like plain and powdered, too.

"It's all made to order and again, sometimes people are a little surprised that we are literally topping them as you order them," Brad said. "Nothing is pre-made so you pick out what you want and we make them right in front of you."

You can order the donuts by themselves, in a half-dozen, a disco dozen or the party box. You can take them to go or eat them in the store.

They serve coffee, hot and iced, made from locally roasted beans.

You would think this would take a while if they are making each one individually, but they can make a dozen in a matter of minutes. If you have a big order, they ask that you call 30 minutes ahead.

"Even just watching, the kids love the process," Brad noted. "We make them and we're making the donut right in front of you and dressing them. It's a pretty cool process."

Peace, Love and Little Donuts is located on the corner of Transit Road and Wehrle Drive. They are open every day of the week.
