BUFFALO, N.Y. — We're getting a look tonight at just how much money the Buffalo Catholic Diocese has paid out to people who say they were victims of abuse in the church.

The diocese has paid more than $17.5 million to 106 people through the Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program.

Another award was accepted, but not paid yet. Seventeen people turned down the offers and three others are still pending.

That means the total payments could go over 18 million dollars.

More cases could go to court when a one-year window for older abuse claims opens up in August as part of the Child Victims Act.
