BUFFALO, N.Y. - A South Carolina resident has received the largest cash settlement offer reported from the Buffalo Roman Catholic Diocese, Two On Your Side has confirmed.
The offer of $400,000 was made to Stephanie McIntyre. The offer was first reported by the Buffalo News on Wednesday.
McIntyre, 50, accused Fr. Fabian Maryanski of sexually abusing her when she was a teenager.
Fr. Maryanski is now retired and was placed on leave by the diocese back in May of 2018.
Attorney Kevin Stocker, who is representing eight of the 191 victims told 2 On Your Side that settlements with the Diocese of Buffalo are being negotiated with his client, but settlement numbers are low, in his opinion.
Stocker said a settlement of $35,000 has been offered to his client.
A recent Two On Your Side investigation suggests the price tag for the diocese to settle all cases will reach into the tens of millions of dollars...at a minimum.
