Poll favors Republicans to win NY-27

It looks like Republicans have the best chance of winning and retaining Congressman Chris Collins seat.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Clout Research surveyed over 300 general election voters in New York's 27th Congressional district, and the results show it's likely to remain a republican seat.

The polling company based out of Ohio tested all of the top Republican names against Democrat Nate McMurray. State Senator Pat Gallivan topped the poll with a 20-point lead over McMurray. Stefan Mychajliw, Carl Paladino, and Chris Jacobs all had double digit leads over the Democrat.

Fritz Wenzel, Clout Research partner said, "The key driving this is whole race right now is going to be the favorable ratings of the candidates. And the key for Gallivan is he's well known and he's well considered. 2-to-1 voters in the district have a favorable opinion of him."

Mychajliw also did well. Paladino didn't do so well. "50-percent of the respondents said they have a negative opinion of him, 42-percent have a positive opinion of him," said Wenzel.

The poll surveyed people in every county making up the Congressional district. People were polled with landlines and cell phones to get a true cross section of voters.

The margin of error was +/-5.33%.

Clout Research did the poll independently, it was not commissioned. They also found that 57-percent of voters in this poll had a favorable opinion of President Trump, a good indication that Republicans will likely win the seat in November.
