SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - New York Republicans are selecting a candidate to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.
The state committee will hold its nominating convention in Saratoga Springs on Friday.
Private equity executive and Republican Party fundraiser Chele Chiavacci Farley has already won the state Conservative Party line and hopes to gain the GOP line.
Farley has little public name recognition and would face a Democrat with broad appeal in New York state. Gillibrand got 72 percent of the vote in her last election, in 2012, against Republican Wendy Long.
