Less then 2% NYS voters participated in early voting

The New York State Board of Elections says turnout was at less than two percent.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — New York State's first-ever early voting period is up, with more than a quarter million votes cast across the state since October 26.

The New York State Board of Elections says turnout was at less than two percent, though they aren't saying if that's high or low given this is a new thing here in New York.

“I think it is more than fair to say Early Voting, by and large, went very smoothly,” said Robert Brehm, Co-Executive Director of the State Board in a released statement. “More than 256,000 people voted, and the voters seemed to like the convenience of not having to vote on just the one day. Waiting times were short or non-existent in most places. Even in the few places where there were minor hiccups, voters were overwhelmingly favorable.”

Chautauqua County had one of the highest turnouts in the state at 5% Erie County was close behind at 4-1/2%.
