Vietnam vet shares his experience in new book

The book is titled "High School To Hell: 365 Days and a wake up."

For some Vietnam veterans, it is hard to talk about their time in combat.

However, Kenmore native Ron Sorrento decided that now is the time to share his story. He is the author of "High School To Hell: 365 Days and a wake up."

Sorrento graduated from Kenmore West High School in 1969. He was drafted into the Army after graduation.

"I weighed about 120 pounds and my backpack weighed about 60," Sorrento said.

He says he wasn't really prepared for what he would see and experience while fighting in Vietnam.

"I got desensitized by all the stuff that was happening. Very desensitized. I think it stayed with me all these years," he said.

Until writing his book, Sorrento hadn't spoke much about about the war.

"Writing that book was very therapeutic, it was very cleansing," the veteran said.

You can purchase his book on Amazon, by clicking here. "High School to Hell" is the first book in the trilogy that Sorrento is writing.
