Thanksgiving Day brings record cold

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Thursday morning the temperature in Buffalo fell to 10 degrees making that the coldest temperature ever recorded on Thanksgiving. Records go back to 1871.

The coldest daytime high ever recorded on Thanksgiving was 22° set back in 1938 and 1903.

This year a high temperature of 22° is expected.

That combination of a 10 degree low and 22 degree high would make this year the coldest Thanksgiving Day on record.

Interestingly, the record cold temperatures for the date of November 22nd are 6 degrees in the morning and 15 degrees in the afternoon. Those will likely stay safe.

The bright spot? Winds will weaken throughout Thanksgiving morning and the sun should make an appearance by the afternoon.

Black Friday looks mostly sunny and warmer with temperatures in the 30s. Even warmer temperatures are expected for the weekend with highs in the 40s.
