The 4-day event began Thursday night at RiverWorks with a skills competition.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The 12th annual Labatt Blue Pond Hockey Tournament returned to RiverWorks on Thursday night with a skills competition.

Tournament play begins Friday at 1 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m.

There are about 130 teams of four to seven players facing off. Teams play a minimum of three round-robin games, and winners will be named tournament champions in their respective divisions.

The tournament continues Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days.

The event will also feature live music, a ropes course, special appearances from Sabres alumni, giveaways, and much more for people who aren't on the ice.

Sabres games will be aired Friday night and Sunday evening, so fans can watch hockey in person and on TV at the same time.
