Police identify body found in Portland, investigating death

State Police are investigating the death of Brian Heyden, whose body was found Saturday in a wooded area off Route 20 in the Town of Portland.

TOWN OF PORTLAND, NY - Police have identified the second of two bodies found over the weekend in the Southern Tier.

State Police have announced they are now investigating the death of Brian Heyden, 47, who according to Police was homeless and traveled from the Brocton area to Fredonia daily.

This particular incident is reportedly unrelated to the other body found that same day.

Following a report of an unidentified body by the highway, Hayden's body was discovered Saturday afternoon by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) out of SP Fredonia, in a wooded area off State Highway 20 in the town of Portland.

An autopsy has been arranged to determine the cause of death.
