Petition urges Bills to sign Pancho Billa to 1-day contract

By Sunday evening, the petition had reached its goal of more than 5,000 signatures.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A petition on Change.org is attempting to convince the Buffalo Bills to sign Ezra Castro, also known as "Pancho Billa," to a one-day contract.

By Sunday evening, the petition had reached its goal of more than 5,000 signatures.

39-year-old Castro is in hospice care for cancer, which began with a mass around his spine. It spread into other organs including his liver and lungs.

2 On Your Side reached out to the Bills on Sunday about the petition. The team responded with this statement:

"We are well engaged personally with Pancho and his family and have been for quite a long time. He has played a special role in our drafts the last two years, and he even spoke to our team person before our game last year against the Jets. We are hoping for all of the best in his fight with cancer."
