Pair of young fawns rescued

FRANKLINVILLE, N.Y. — A pair of fawns are safe after their mother was struck and killed by a car.

Officers from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) got the call about the accident which happened earlier this month along Rt. 16 in Franklinville.

Environmental Conservation Officer JM Powers met troopers at the scene and found the pair nearby and still alive. The fawns were immediately taken to a nearby rehabilitation facility.
