SANBORN, N.Y. - Women fighting addiction have a new place to go for help in Niagara County.
Horizon Corporation opened up 'Aurora Village' in Sanborn today, the company says it's the first facility of its kind in the area for women over 18.
It has housing for 25 women for detox, rehab and getting them ready to re-enter society, something Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul says is badly needed.
"We know there are a lot of people, men and women, captured by this crisis because they started by simply following a doctor's orders. The doctor said, you're injured, you have a rib injury, you have shoulder injury, take this medicine and you have all the refills you need. This was going on for decades, and finally now we're catching up."
New York state spent almost $5 million towards building the facility, and will give it $1 million a year to keep it running.
