Mayor Brown proposes $6 million project to improve Buffalo's parks, museums, theaters

The proposal also includes money to renovate MLK Park, Sahlen Field, the Buffalo Museum of Science, and the Crane Branch library on Elmwood Avenue.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown wants to spend $6 million on parks and other facilities around the city in the next year.

He put out the first part of his proposal for the city's capital budget Monday morning, which focused on improvements for parks, museums and theaters.

The proposal also includes money to renovate the casino at MLK Park, plus investments of more than half a million dollars for Sahlen Field, the Buffalo Museum of Science, and the Crane Branch library on Elmwood Avenue.

"We are listening to the community, listening to our colleagues on the common council, and really working to deliver what residents are asking for," Brown said.

The mayor will announce more projects throughout the week before presenting his capital budget to the Buffalo Common Council Friday for lawmakers to review.
