BUFFALO, N.Y. — Search crews found a Buffalo man sleeping on the breakwall overnight after he called 911 to report his boat was taking on water.
The man, in his 30s, placed the SOS call shortly before 4 a.m. saying he was standing in knee deep water in his boat but did not know where he was.
First responders from Coast Guard Buffalo, Air Station Detroit, the Erie County Sheriff's Marine Unit, and Buffalo Police began a search that ended around 6 a.m. when the man was found sleeping on the breakwall across from the Erie Basin Marina.
He wasn't hurt, according to authorities, but did lose his boat to the bottom of Lake Erie.
