Man charged with DWI after crossing over lane, forcing NFTA bus to hit home

NFTA Bus hits house on Bailey Avenue in Buffalo

An NFTA bus hit a home on Bailey Avenue Friday morning. Metro Police Chief George Gast said the bus was south on Bailey near Walden when it swerved to avoid a collision with an SUV.

Transit police have charged 30-year-old, Oscar Baez with DWI, reckless driving and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after Baez crossed over the lane and toward the bus, causing the bus to hit a home.

Eleven people, including the driver, were on the bus at the time. Seven people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Viewer Kyle Trimble sent us this shot on Twitter of the accident shortly after the accident happened. 

Gast said city engineers checked out the house that was hit and found there was no structural damage.

Baez is being held at the Holding Center pending arraignment.
