BUFFALO, NY - A Kenmore man will be spending his New Year's Day in Pasadena, California.

Timothy Day was chosen as one of 18 organ transplant recipients to ride on the Donate Life float in the 130th annual Rose Parade.

Day, 51, received the lifesaving gift of a new heart on May 31, 2015 after battling a lifetime of autoimmune disorders.

The theme of this year's parade is "The Melody of Life" celebrating music as the universal language. Ironically for Day, the theme of the Donate Life float is "Rhythm of the Heart", inspired by music and traditions of African cultures.

He is one of 70 honorees whose lives have been touched by organ, eye or tissue donation who will either ride on or walk beside it.
