Kenmore Fire Department gives back to community

The department put together baskets of food and toys to deliver to 87 different families in the community.

KENMORE, N.Y. — This holiday season we've seen the generous work of several different organizations, and Friday night 2 On Your Side stopped by the Kenmore Fire Department for an annual event of theirs.

The department put together baskets of food and toys to deliver to 87 different families in the community.

Kenmore Fire Chief Peter Breitnauer says it's the least the department can do during the Christmas season.

"Around the department, we try to help everybody throughout the year," Breitnauer. "But just to know that we can help out more families and make a change into someone's month and try and help them out with a difficult time. It makes it worth it for all of us."

Those baskets featured everything to make a holiday dinner, plus gifts for the kids.
