BUFFALO, N.Y. - Janet Monroe’s frustration with the City of Buffalo stretches back to the summer of 2015. She started called the city’s 311 phone number to get a tree removed next to her home. The tree is on city property, but nearly covering the side of her Alabama Street home.

“I need help" said Monroe who has documented every time she called 311. “August 1 of this year when I called again, they said they sent somebody out to look at the trees and said that the one big tree had to be removed."

Tree branches are blocking the walkway, and poking through the fence and nearly covering the side of the house leading to the backyard.

The tree is still standing and someone at 311 told her the case was closed.

2 On Your Side got an explanation about the closed case from Andy Rabb, the deputy commissioner of Parks & Recreation. “The 311 call was closed once the tree was placed on the contract for work to be performed."

Rabb said the tree will come down this year. “We confirmed with our contractor that this tree is on his workload so we're hoping to have it down relatively soon.”
