BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Women dressed their best for a gala Saturday that raised money for a special cause -- and featured a famous performer.
The gala, held at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, raised funds through ticket sales and raffles for the non-profit For Our Daughters.
For Our Daughters runs programing throughout western New York that educates young women about how to live long and healthy lives.

The gala was celebrated for the 5th straight year Saturday, and the annual Survivors Tribute was performed for the first time by 2013 American Idol winner Candice Glover.
Several gala attendees were also recognized with awards.
A woman who runs an organization that provides wigs to cancer patients and a woman who runs a daycare and had the children she watched create Mastectomy Pillows for those who have had breast cancer surgery both received "Super Woman" awards.
2 On Your Side received a Community Support Award from For Our Daughters during the event as well.
28-year-old breast cancer survivor Mercedes Holloway founded For Our Daughters in 2012. Since then, the organization has addressed physical and mental issues young women must often confront, including a negative body image, peer pressure, and low self-esteem. The organization also encourages young women to communicate with their parents or other caregivers so they can feel comfortable speaking about their health.
For Our Daughters has operated a Diamond Program in area schools for the past four years, educating thousands of young women. For the 2016-17 school year, For Our Daughters hopes to work with 1,500 young women and hold its first mother-daugther luncheon.
