BUFFALO, NY - Constructions crews were at the, what will soon be the former, First Niagara Center tearing down the popular hockey pad facades and First Niagara signage.
An official with the Buffalo Sabres confirms to 2 On Your Side that the rebranding process is underway and will take some time to complete, likely to be completed before the Sabres hit the ice at home on October 13th.
First Niagara bought the 15-year naming rights to the arena from HSBC in 2011. Due to the merger with KeyBank the arena will be renamed "KeyBank Center."
This will be the fourth renaming of the Sabres home since it opened in 1996.
