ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. - The Erie County Sheriff's Office is warning county residents about a phone scam.
Authorities have received reports of a male pretending to be with the Erie County Sheriff's Office calling individuals about an "ongoing civil matter." This is a scam.
If there was a civil matter, authorities say the Sheriff's Office Civil Enforcement Division will not contact you by phone.
If you, a relative, neighbor, or friend receives one of these calls, hang up immediately.
