Erie County releases report on Dirschberger investigation

A report from a law firm hired by the Erie County Legislature found no formal complaints against Dirschberger before the incident and that the county wasn't negligent.

BUFFALO, NY-Former Erie County Social Services chief Al Dirschberger is set to go on trial next month, accused of sexually assaulting a woman he supervised at a conference in Albany last year.

On Tuesday, a report from a law firm hired by the Erie County Legislature found no formal complaints against Dirschberger before the incident and that the county wasn't negligent.

The report did find that Dirschberger's accuser may have complained informally to her supervisor, and that Dirschberger told a deputy commissioner to lie to police and keep the investigation secret from the county executive's office.

Dirschberger resigned late last year. Jury selection in his case is set to start December 10.
