DPW and EMS Day Lets Kids Explore Vehicles

The event is free and open to the public.

TONAWANDA, N.Y. — The Erie County Department of Public Works and county Emergency Medical Services are teaming up for a special touch-a-truck event where kids can sit in and explore emergency vehicles and work trucks.

The free, family-friendly event runs Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at Ellicott Creek Park in the Town of Tonawanda.

There was a special quiet time in the morning where children with special needs or sensory issues got to take part too.

There are games, safety demos, and a car seat safety check by deputies. The Erie County Public library is handing out books, and food trucks are set up.

The event is part of National Public Works Week and National Emergency Services Week, which both run from May 19 to May 25.
