BUFFALO, N.Y. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers turned away a Canadian citizen at the Peace Bridge on Friday, after they suspected he was involved in a parental abduction.

During the primary inspection, an officer became concerned after one of the two children became visibly upset.

The family was escorted to secondary for further inspection.

Upon further inspection, it was confirmed that the man had in fact taken the children from a sports camp in Toronto without the parent's knowledge or permission, and was not allowed to take them out of the country.

After coordinating with the Toronto Police Department and the Canada Border Service Agency, the children were returned safely back to their mother.

The father was arrested by the Toronto Police Department.
