Downed trees causing issues in City of Buffalo

Residents are asked to be cautious of downed trees, power lines and road closures caused by the storm. Call 311 for assistance.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Around 20 streets in the City of Buffalo are blocked on Friday morning due to debris from the wind storm, according to a city spokesperson.

A section of West Delavan and Edward Street at Delaware are both blocked because of downed trees. Crews are out trying to clear the way for motorists.

Ten traffic signals are either out or on flash. Motorists are asked to treat these intersections as four-way stops.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown on Thursday announced that Erie Basin Marina and LaSalle Park closed at 8 p.m. in preparation for a storm moving across the region.

The closures are for both cars and pedestrians.

No civilian injuries reported at this time related to the weather.

The city's 311 call center is now operational. City residents with non-emergency weather related issues should call the number for assistance.

If a power line is down, assume it's active and don't touch it. Also, be on the lookout for any traffic signals that might be out. If you find yourself in this situation, make sure to treat it as a four-way stop.
