Buffalo Police still searching for parents, guardians of child found sleeping on a porch

Buffalo Police need your help in locating the parent or guardian of a three-year-old boy who was found sleeping on a porch on Potomac Avenue.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Police need your help in locating the parent or guardian of a three-year-old boy who was found sleeping on a porch on Potomac Avenue.

The child was found around 8 a.m. by the resident of the home. The child was sleeping in a cat box.

"It was heartbreaking, heartbreaking. I started crying. I've been crying all day wondering about this little baby" said Lois Augsberger who found the boy on her porch.

Officers canvassed a 15-block radius, knocking on doors asking residents if they recognize the boy. So far, they have not been able to identify the child, nor has anyone come forward to file a missing persons report.

The child was taken to the hospital to be checked out. Police say he is in good health and was not harmed.

The child is currently in the custody of Child Protective Services.  If no parent or guardian steps forward, the child may be placed in approved foster care.

"I just can’t figure out where he came from, where his parents are, ya know if someone brought him here and dropped him off, I don’t know" said Augsberger.

Buffalo Police spokesperson Mike DeGeorge says the BPD is investigating whether there is a connection between this incident and the burned vehicle found with human remains in Buffalo's Black Rock neighborhood.

Anyone with information is asked to please contact D-District at (716) 851-4413 or call 911.
