Canal Fest of the Tonawandas takes a year off

The 3rd week of July will be a bit quieter this year along the banks of the Erie Canal, but the change is just for this year.

TONAWANDA, N.Y. — Canal Fest organizers are taking a year off to rebrand and restructure the festival for its 40th celebration in 2024, so that means the popular summer event is on pause for this summer.

The third week of July will be a bit quieter this year along the banks of the Erie Canal, but the change is temporary.

Event organizers, the not-for-profits, and civic member organizations from both the cities of North Tonawanda and Tonawanda that participate in the eight-day festival have chosen to step back and take a year off so they can better prepare for Canal Fest in 2024.

There will be plenty of new events, attractions, and entertainment plans that organizers say will make the 40th celebration something you've never seen before.

So mark those calendars for July 14-21, 2024!
