Empire State Development back three regional projects

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Three economic development projects, including a Black Rock apartment-anchored development, received more than $2.5 million combined in allocations from Empire State Development.

Receiving the state backing:

• Torn Space Theater was allocated a $748,000 grant that will help finance a $1.16 million expansion and renovation of the East Side entertainment venue.

The work covers renovations to the theater, located at 612 Fillmore Avenue and expansion into an adjoining building at 608 Fillmore Avenue.

Torn Space attracts between 3,000 and 4,000 people annually to its local productions.
