Botanical Gardens study: expansion would add $9 million annually to Buffalo economy

Construction could start next fall and wrap up two years after that.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Botanical Gardens are planning a big expansion, and it could do a lot for the local economy.

The Botanical Gardens announced Wednesday that they've finished a study that shows their planned 40,000-square-foot expansion would add $9 million to the economy every year and add 275 jobs while helping revive parts of South Buffalo and Lackawanna.

Construction could start next fall and wrap up two years after that.
