Blood drive, fundraiser in memory of Western New York soldier

The third annual blood drive serves as a tribute to Williamsville native Shawn McMullen who died in 2015 at the age of 26.

AMHERST, N.Y. — ConnectLife held a blood drive Saturday to honor the life and legacy of a Western New York soldier.

The third annual blood drive served as a tribute to Williamsville native Shawn McMullen who died in 2015 at the age of 26.

The McMullen family created a foundation called Shawn's Heroes for Life to educate people about organ donation, and to bring awareness regarding veterans in need.

The blood drive and fundraiser also featured a silent auction and raffle items.

The drive was 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UB Newman Center located at 495 Skinnersville Road.
