Beyoncé's drummer excited to play for hometown crowd

Joy was born in Lockport, raised in Buffalo. She is a graduate of Nardin and Canisius College.

BUFFALO, NY - When Venzella Joy takes the stage Saturday night at New Era Field she admits she will likely be a little misty.

Venzella Joy also known as 'Joy the Drummer' is part of the female Beyoncé band and will be rocking the sticks on the On The Run tour II the with Beyoncé and Jay Z.

Joy was born in Lockport, raised in Buffalo. She is a graduate of Nardin and Canisius College.

Everyone on the tour bus is aware that she is excited to play in her hometown and yes Beyonce knows too.

“I never fathomed playing at the stadium…I’m excited about it,” she said in a sit-down interview with Channel 2’s Claudine Ewing. “I’m very grateful for all the people who supported me and who helped me develop as a drummer.”

Not willing to talk too much about the tour, Joy did say “It’s in peccable a fusion of two worlds…an amazing experience.”
