Amherst Police: Woman injured after crashing car into house

Police say Margery Cole, 89, was driving northbound on Eggert Road when she drove off the road and hit a house.

AMHERST, N.Y. — A car drove into a house on Eggert Road Sunday morning, sending a woman to the hospital, according to the Amherst Police Department.

Police say Margery Cole, 89, was driving northbound on Eggert Road in the Town of Amherst at 8:59 a.m. when she drove off the road and hit a house. Cole was taken to ECMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

The owner of the house was home when the accident happened but was not injured. However, police say the house sustained extensive damage.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
