AMHERST, NY - Amherst Police say an injured bear that had been making its way through the town for roughly two weeks has been killed.

According to police, the bear was located by officers around Renaissance Drive and Covent Garden Lane.

Police say the bear was moving in and out of yards in a densely populated neighborhood.

Officers say the bear "appeared unable to continue its normal travel habits," because it had been hit by a car.

The officers on scene determined the bear was a danger to the public and shot it.
