LOCKPORT, N.Y. — Water rescue crews were called into action Saturday to rescue two people from a creek in Niagara County.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, the call came in at 10:20 a.m. for two people in the water at Mud Creek on Rapids Road in Lockport.
The two men were duck hunting in a canoe along the creek when their canoe tipped over after hitting ice, reports say.
They were in the water for about half an hour before rescuers could pull them out. One rescuer says the males were dressed appropriately for the elements, and did not appear they were suffering from any immediate effects of hypothermia.
They were taken to the hospital for treatment and are expected to recover.
