ECSO identifies woman killed in Newstead crash

Police are still looking into the cause of the accident, but believe weather may have played a role.

ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — The Erie County Sheriff's Office has identified the woman killed in an accident in the Town of Newstead Friday.

The accident happened around 7 a.m. on Maple Road.

Investigators say witnesses told them an SUV traveling north lost control and swerved into the path of a southbound vehicle.  The southbound vehicle then struck the SUV on the passenger side, causing both vehicles to go off the roadway.

A passenger in the SUV, Ada Zambranapagan, 39, of Lockport, had to be extricated from the vehicle.  She was taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital where she later died.

The driver of the SUV and the driver of the second vehicle were taken to ECMC for treatment.

Police are still looking into the cause of the accident, but believe weather may have played a role.
