Buffalo firefighter hurt in 2-alarm house fire on LaSalle Avenue

The Red Cross is assisting five adults, and one Buffalo firefighter was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of a hand injury.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Red Cross is assisting five adults, and one Buffalo firefighter was injured after crews battled a two-alarm fire Sunday on LaSalle Avenue.

The fire was at 25 LaSalle Avenue, near Main Street, between the city's University District and Kensington neighborhoods.

The firefighter was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of a hand injury.

Fire crews responded to a 911 call at approximately 9:20 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators say the fire started on a lower floor and estimated the damage at $140,000. They say there was also minor exposure damage done to the structure at 25 LaSalle.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
