Kaloyeros responds to federal prosecutors in his appeal case

Kaloyeros' attorneys, of Steptoe & Johnson LLP in New York City, filed their reply brief Friday afternoon with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

ALBANY, N.Y. — Alain Kaloyeros has filed a response to the government, the latest step in his effort to make a case for why he should be acquitted or get a new trial.

Kaloyeros' attorneys, of Steptoe & Johnson LLP in New York City, filed their reply brief Friday afternoon with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. The document outlines why they believe federal prosecutors are wrong when they say Kaloyeros' conviction should stand.

Kaloyeros, the former president of SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Albany, was sentenced in December to 3 1/2 years in prison and a $100,000 fine for his role in a scheme to rig bids on major economic development projects across upstate New York.  For more on this story, please visit the Buffalo Business First website.
