BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Multiple sources confirm to 2 On Your Side that FBI agents went to Buffalo Police headquarters last week and left the building with computers and cell phones to be analyzed.
The specific target of the investigation is unclear, but sources tell us the computers and cell phones were from the "Intelligence Unit" of Buffalo Police. That unit often deals with investigations surrounding gangs and drug dealers.
One source said this should not be described as an FBI "raid", because Buffalo Police are cooperating and/or part of the investigation.
BPD Spokesperson Mike DeGeorge said it would be inaccurate to report the FBI took computers. He did not explain further.
A spokesperson for the FBI said the bureau can neither confirm nor deny that an investigation is underway. She said the FBI often works hand-in-hand with Buffalo Police on many matters.
