Foundation offered free cataract surgeries for day in Cheektowaga

During the last 10 years, Eyes on America has done more than 300 of these surgeries. They continue these kind of surgeries year-round.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — Some eye doctors are doing good things in Cheektowaga.

People in need or without insurance came to Atwal Eye Care on Friday to get free cataract surgeries through the Eyes on America Foundation, which has been doing these events for 10 years now.

And the doctors who do it can see the life-changing impact this work has on the people who come in.

"Myself, my family, the staff here got into the business to help. So this is just another day in that regard, but we're very fortunate to be able to do this on a daily basis," said Dr. Ephraim Atwal, the Eyes on America medical director.

During the last 10 years, Eyes on America has done more than 300 of these surgeries. They continue these kind of surgeries year-round.
