New York State extends ban on COVID-related evictions, foreclosures to January 1

The moratorium is aimed at protecting people and businesses who are behind on mortgage or rent payments due to unemployment or other impacts from the pandemic.

ALBANY, N.Y. — The state's moratorium on COVID-related evictions and foreclosures has been extended through January 1.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo made that initial announcement on residential and commercial evictions back on March 20th.

The moratorium is aimed at protecting people and businesses who are behind on mortgage or rent payments due to unemployment or other impacts from the pandemic.
