Erie County hosting recruitment seminars for U.S. Census jobs

Recruiters are looking for people from different communities to help record and organize data. Positions pay $20 per hour.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Libraries across Erie County will be hosting recruitment seminars throughout the weekend. The state is looking for census takers to help collect information for this year's census. 

They’re hoping to fill 10 thousand positions by the end of February so the people who are hired can be trained. 

Responsibilities range from knocking on doors to scheduling callers and organizing the data that is collected. 

Positions pay $20 per hour. 

The following library locations will be participating in recruitment. 

  • Downtown Central Library: 1 Lafayette Square, Buffalo; Saturday, January 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, January 26 from noon to 5 p.m.
  • Isaias Gonzalez-Soto Branch Library (formerly Niagara Branch): 280 Porter Avenue, Buffalo; Saturday, January 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Frank E. Merriweather, Jr. Branch Library: 1324 Jefferson Avenue, Buffalo; Saturday, January 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, January 26 from noon to 5 p.m.
  • Amherst Public Library, Audubon Branch: 350 John J. Audubon Pkwy, Amherst; Saturday, January 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, January 26 from noon to 5 p.m.
  • Lackawanna Public Library: 560 Ridge Road, Lackawanna; Saturday, January 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Clarence Public Library: 3 Town Place, Clarence; Saturday, January 25 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Cheektowaga Public Library, Julia Boyer Reinstein Branch: 1030 Losson Road, Cheektowaga; Saturday, January 25 from noon to 4:45 p.m. and Sunday, January 26 from noon to 4:45 p.m.
  • Town of Tonawanda Public Library, Kenmore Branch: 160 Delaware Road, Kenmore; Saturday, January 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, January 26 from noon to 5 p.m.
