Friends for a Better Buffalo plans to honor unsung heroes in education

Awards are planned to celebrate educators for being an unyielding force for students and the community.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Friends for a Better Buffalo want to know what Buffalo educator is worthy of an excellence in education award.

The group is planning a black-tie event to honor nominated educators in Buffalo public, private and charter schools in May.

They hope to receive nominations for teachers, administrators and others including cafeteria workers and support staff.

The deadline to nominate an educator is February 28.

Celebrating BLACK HISTORY MONTH, Friends for a Better Buffalo will h... ighlight Buffalo African American Educators who created the path forward. A THANK YOU to the Dr. Barbara A. Seals Nevergold and Dr. Peggy Brooks-Bertram, founders of the Uncrowned Queens Institute,for creating a valuable database featuring African American Community Builders.
